About this school
History
The foundation stone for Sanskriti School was laid by Smt. Hemi Surendra Singh, Chairperson, Civil Services Society on May 30, 1996. The school became functional on August 12th 1998. Mrs. Gowri Ishwaran took over as the founder principal in the year 1999. The school is the enterprise and endeavour of the Civil Services Society, formed by the wives of the civil servants belonging to the various branches of the Government of India. Realising the importance of a premium school offering quality education to wards of officers of All India and Allied services and Defence Personnel on transfer, the school was set up in Chanakyapuri. The school is now open to all students irrespective of their parents professions or branch of government.
The school also realises its responsibility towards the marginalised sections of society and has been admitting students from these backgrounds since 2004. At present, the school admits 25% students from the economically weaker sections of society. Sanskriti School is a public sector, non- profit organization whose Chairperson is the spouse of the Cabinet Secretary. From the time of its inception, the school has excelled in academics as well as co curricular activities. Currently there are over 2500 students from varied backgrounds studying in the school. Sanskriti School is headed by Mrs. Richa Agnihotri. She took over from the second principal, Mrs. Abha Sahgal in the year 2016.
Objectives
The motto of the school is "Vidhyaya cha vimuchyate" which translated in to English means, "Knowledge is liberation". This reflects the spirit and the philosophy of Sanskriti. Here we work towards bringing about a holistic development of the children who are entrusted to our care. The objectives of the school are manifold.
To provide a stimulating, purposeful, cheerful, safe and secure environment, enabling all children to develop academically and socially.
To make students realize that striving for excellence, in all areas of life must be the goal in life.
To understand that each student is a unique individual with rights and responsibilities.
To have classes with fewer students so that each student receives individual attention.
To encourage students to take pride in their own achievements.
To make students aware that a disciplined environment contributes to the achievement of one’s goal .
Vision & Mission
“Education is growth. [...] Education is not a preparation for life; education is life itself.†- John Dewey
The task of an excellent teacher is to stimulate “apparently ordinary†people to unusual effort. The problem is not in identifying winners; it is in making winners out of ordinary people. The Mission of the school is to provide the right stimulus that would lead to the holistic development of the child. The school follows the motto ‘Knowledge is Liberation’. It is the corner stone around which the character and personality of every child is built. The Civil Service Society visualizes an educational system on the four basic tenets: universal values, excellence in all things, global understanding by viewing diversity as an asset and service to humanity. The aim is to nurture children who have had every opportunity to inculcate in them the ideas of sharing and caring, to make the right choices in life and to enable them to be responsible citizens of the country and the world.Counselling
The Counselling Services at Sanskriti School aim to promote psycho-social, educational and career development of students. The Counselling department works with an aim to empower students to become self-reliant and capable of making informed decisions as they grow up. Counselling services are kept totally confidential. (Exceptions to confidentiality are instances of harm to self or others/neglect/abuse)
Students, teachers and parents are requested to get in touch with the counsellor regarding any academic and behavioural concerns or any other pressing needs during school hours with a prior appointment. The contribution of the Counselling Department is of great significance in our students’ learning and development. It works on building skills and competencies in the following areas:
Personal – understanding and appreciating/acknowledging/accepting oneself
Social – relating to others and managing relationships
Developmental – understanding growing up and related changes
Educational – developing appropriate plans and strategies for effective learning.
Career – creating and developing life and career plans .The department works towards creating data-driven school counselling programs which are evidence- based, and are aligned with the school’s vision.
Appropriate interventions are designed and evaluated, with the aim to help the school and its stakeholders work together to effectively meet the needs of our learners.
The school has four trained counsellors working for Junior, Middle and Senior school
From the Principal/Headmaster's Desk
“The highest education is that which does not merely give us information but makes our life in harmony with existenceâ€.
Rabindranath Tagore
At Sanskriti we are committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment to enable our children to develop skills that will help them be caring, confident and responsible global citizens. As Principal of Sanskriti I believe in the power of the young mind to make a change. It is with this belief and faith that we endeavor to inculcate in our children values of empathy, responsibility, humility and the passion to believe in their dreams.
Sanskriti nurtures talents in the performing arts, visual arts, sports and academics. We provide a platform for these young minds to discover themselves and make choices for the future. The impressive performance of the students in the board examinations is an evidence of the school’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards in teaching and learning. As an inclusive school our dedicated team of teachers support children through their challenges and help each one reach their potential. We believe in “No child being left behind†and work with determination to achieve this aim.
At Sanskriti children learn to be tolerant, supportive and accepting of differences in abilities and beliefs. These values will take them beyond the narrow definitions of success and achievement. As the world moves towards unsafe and unsettled times we will continue to provide to our students lessons in the kindness, courage and generosity of the human race and its ability to reconstruct and rebuild. Frequent and focused workshops both for teachers and students ensure that we stay abreast of the latest research in field of education. In addition the school has a tradition of student and teacher exchanges to build awareness of varied perspectives.
We hope that our children will be the artists, musicians and diplomats who will strive to bring peace to this world, the environmentalists who will work to reverse climate change and doctors who will eradicate disease from the face of this earth.
We are also fortunate to have “The Civil Services Society “as a parent organization and engaged and involved parents who encourage and support the children through this journey. We are a school community that firmly believes in this partnership between students, teachers and parents and works with consensus, transparency and accountability. We look forward to their continued support as Sanskriti continues to develop and grow as a centre of excellence
